The President of the Association of Irish Local Government (AILG) Cllr. Mary Hoade has been appointed to the new advisory group that will work on delivering the programme for Government commitments on introducing a Town Centres First (TCF) policy and rolling out the Collaborative Town Centre Health Check programme nationally. Chaired by Minister Peter Burke, the newly formed committee had its first meeting via conference call in late December.
“I am delighted to be appointed to this role and look forward to contributing to the TCF’s vital work to ensure Town Centre Revitalisation is delivered throughout the country. Local Councillors are community champions and as public representatives many are already heavily involved in regeneration projects. They are a vital component of vibrant towns & villages, bringing a strong voice for local communities through effective local government. I look forward to representing the Association and working hard to ensure that Government delivers the right policies and supports to help deliver regeneration and revitalisation throughout the villages, towns and cities across Ireland”
Based in the small town of Headford, Cllr. Mary Hoade represents Tuam Municipal District on Galway County Council and was elected President of the Association of Irish Local Government (AILG) at its online AGM on 28 October 2020.
