AILG President launches new Information Leaflet series

A new series of online information leaflets which contain practical, accessible information for elected members on various aspects of their policy, regulatory & statutory duties was launched today by AILG President Cllr. Mary Hoade.

The leaflets cover a wide range of issues including the Part 8 Planning Process, Reserved Functions, Material Contravention of the Development Plan, Public Rights-of-Way Creation and Extinguishment and Section 183 Disposal of Council Lands. The leaflets have a particular emphasis on Reserved functions which relate primarily to issues of policy, e.g the Material Contravention of the Development Plan and are intended to be a useful information tool for elected members in their day-to-day role as public representatives and to help answer questions and give advice to elected members on a range of topics in a clear and concise way.

President Cllr. Hoade launched the leaflets at an online Plenary Meeting today.

Speaking at the launch, Cllr. Hoade said:

It is our intention to continue to add to this portfolio of Information Leaflets. We hope that these Information Leaflets will encourage further engagement, enhance knowledge and strengthen the influence of local authority Elected Members in making a difference at local and community levels.
