Conference & Seminars
The AILG also holds two annual training events including our Annual Conference and Autumn Seminar. These two events are useful resources for all Elected Members to be briefed on important local government issues.
Elected Members Training Programme
Since 2014, six modules of training and development have successfully been delivered on an annual basis by the AILG. Our training programme is delivered on a regional basis in conjunction with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage with speakers being made available from across various government departments, agencies and local authorities.
Plenary Meeting
The AILG works with our plenary delegates in each of the 31 Local Authorities, to help develop a sense of collegiality among the elected members. Through regular interaction with our delegate members, the wider body of Councillors and other stakeholders in the local government environment, the AILG aims to ensure that the contribution of Ireland’s democratically elected members is appreciated in Government Departments and throughout the full range of public agencies
