“Finalising your Development Plan – Key Steps and Requirements from the Development Plan Guidelines”

AILG are pleased to announce our June 2022 Elected Members Training Programme (In-Person Training Event).

The Training topic is entitled “Finalising your development plan – key steps and requirements from the Development Plan Guidelines” 

Presentations will be delivered by from the Planning Division of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and Niall Cussen, Planning Regulator which will:

  • Outline the latest policy advice from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage in relation to the latest Ministerial guidelines on development plans and related matters such as the Land Value Tax.
  • Update Elected Members on the latest progress from around the country in relation to the current round of local authority development plan reviews and the main issues arising;
  • Provide helpful advice to Elected Members on how to finalise your development plans in ways that both address the key local planning issues, while going about that in a way that is co-ordinated across the local government sector;

Registration will commence at 9.30am with Training beginning at 10.00am.

Please note that registrations must be completed on-line via Eventbrite on a first come, first serve basis.

Only one booking is allowable per person. If you wish to make a booking for a colleague it must be done by way of a separate booking. Please ensure that all bookings are under the full name of the attendee.

The above training events will be subject to current government public health measures and may change if any changes to public health measures are announced.

The primary rules relating to attendance at the seminars are the same as has applied to AILG training over the past five years:

Where a Councillor attends a training event other than that designated for her or his parent Council, travelling expenses will be paid at the shorter of the two distances;

Councillors may attend a training seminar on a Saturday which is not in their designated area but only to a maximum of two such attendances in the calendar year, i.e. a maximum of two out of area Saturdays in the calendar year.

Given the tight timeframes involved in sanctioning attendance retrospective sanction can be assumed on an exceptional basis.
